Privacy Policy

Shabdha Mitra, operated by Bhaskara Mitra Associated and Consultants (India).

Effective date: 5 August 2026 · Last updated: 5 August 2026

The short version

Shabdha Mitra offers traditional KP praśna readings. To do that, we handle the question you ask, and, if you choose to save one, birth details for a chart. We keep as little as we can, we do not sell your data, and we do not run advertising trackers. You can ask us to delete your data at any time by writing to md@bhaskaramitra.com. The sections below explain exactly what we collect, why, who helps us process it, and how long we keep it.

Who we are

Shabdha Mitra is a service of Bhaskara Mitra Associated and Consultants. In this policy, “we”, “us”, and “our” mean Bhaskara Mitra Associated and Consultants, and “you” means the person using the service. If you have any question about your data, write to us at md@bhaskaramitra.com.

What we collect, and why

Using the service as a guest

You can use Shabdha Mitra without creating an account. When you do, we create an anonymous guest identity for you. We do not ask for or store your name or email as a guest, except if you ask for an invitation (see “Invitation requests” below). A random device identifier is saved in your browser to keep your session steady and to limit abuse.

Creating an account

If you sign in with Google, we receive and store your email address and your display name from your Google profile so we can keep your readings, saved profiles, and Mitra Power balance with your account. We do not receive your Google password.

Invitation requests

Shabdha Shastram is open by invitation. If you ask for an invitation, we keep the email address or phone number you give (and your name, if you choose to give one) for one purpose: to write to you about an invitation, by email or on WhatsApp. A message sent on WhatsApp goes through WhatsApp, a third party. Only the founder of Shabdha Mitra can see these requests. We do not sell this information and we do not use it for anything else.

If we have not sent you an invitation, we delete your request after 90 days. If we have sent you one, we delete the request 30 days after that. If you ask us to erase it sooner, we erase it at once: write to md@bhaskaramitra.com.

Asking a praśna (a question reading)

When you ask a question, the service reads the text of that question to prepare your reading. To keep the service accurate, we may keep two kinds of short-term diagnostic records: a set of non-identifying labels about how the reading was produced, and, separately, a calibration record that includes an encrypted copy of your question and the location used for the chart. Both are deleted within 90 days. If you choose to share a reading by link, the shared reading (including a city-level place name and the time it was cast) becomes viewable by anyone who has that link, until you ask us to remove it.

Saving birth details (Jātakam)

If you save a birth profile, we store the label and relationship you give it, the birth date, the birth time (you may mark it unknown), and the birth place with its coordinates. We store a saved birth profile only after you give explicit consent, and we record that consent with the profile. We also keep the computed chart so we do not have to recalculate it. Birth details are personal to you; only your account can read them, and you can delete any profile at any time.

Birth-time windows

If you use the birth-time window tool, we keep each window you work out: the first name and relationship you give, the birth date and place with its coordinates, the recorded time and where it came from, the clock, your answers to the simple questions (such as the side of sunrise, the birth star and the tithi), any dated events and notes you add, and the result. Only your account can open them. You can delete a window at any time from My windows, and deleting your account deletes all of them.

Checking name compatibility (Nāma)

When you check name compatibility, the names you enter are sent to our compatibility engine to calculate a score, which is returned to you. To work out how a name is pronounced, that name may also be sent to Google Translate; only the name is sent, never your account, your question or your chart. If you discuss names in a conversation with Shabdha Mitra, that text is handled the same way as your question text described under “Sharing with our AI provider” below.

Buying Mitra Power (payments)

When you buy Mitra Power credits, your payment is handled by Razorpay. You enter your card, UPI, or bank details directly with Razorpay. We never see or store your card number, UPI PIN, or banking credentials. From Razorpay we receive a confirmation containing the payment and order identifiers, the amount, and the package you bought, which we use to add credits to your account and keep a record of the transaction.

Device and session data

We store a random device identifier in your browser and keep a short-lived session token so you stay signed in. We keep basic security records, such as rate-limit counts, to protect the service from abuse.

Sharing with our AI provider

To put your reading into words, our system sends the text you submit (your question, and for a birth reading the birth details you entered) to our AI provider, Google (Gemini), which processes it to help generate the language of your reading. If our main provider is unavailable, the same text may instead be sent to Anthropic as a backup provider. The astrological judgment itself is produced by our own engine; the AI provider assists with wording. We do not send your email or account identity to the AI provider, though any names or details you include in your question are part of the text that is processed.

Who else processes your data

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for advertising.

Analytics and tracking

We do not currently use third-party analytics, advertising, or cross-site tracking. Our internal measurement is turned off in production, and by design it never carries your name, email, account identity, or the content of your questions.

Cookies and local storage

We use a first-party cookie to keep you signed in, and browser local storage to hold a random device identifier and to keep your session steady. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can clear these through your browser at any time, though signing in again will recreate the essential ones.

How long we keep your data

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to:

To make any of these requests, write to md@bhaskaramitra.com. When you ask us to delete your account, we remove your profile, saved birth details, readings history, and credit records. Non-identifying diagnostic records that do not name you age out on the retention schedule above, and any reading you chose to share by link is removed when you ask us to take it down.

Children

Shabdha Mitra is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under the age applicable in your jurisdiction. If you believe a child has given us personal data, write to md@bhaskaramitra.com and we will remove it.

Security

We protect your data with access controls so that only your account can read your readings and saved profiles, and we route all sensitive writes through controlled server functions. Payment details are handled by Razorpay and never reach our servers. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service grows. When we make a material change, we will update the effective date at the top and, where appropriate, tell you in the product. Continuing to use Shabdha Mitra after a change means you accept the updated policy.
